Open research positions and projects for internships and theses.
PhD student - Computational Immunology and Oncology
We are seeking a highly motivated PhD student to join our research team in exploring adaptive immune responses in solid tumors, with a particular emphasis on colorectal cancer.
The candidate will lead a project focused on developing and applying computational methods to investigate the molecular and cellular architecture of immune cell infiltration in solid tumors. The central aim is to uncover the clonal dynamics and spatial organization of adaptive immune cells (T cells and B cells) within the tumor microenvironment, specifically in organ-specific contexts such as colorectal cancer.
Your role:
- Develop and implement computational tools for the analysis of single cell transcriptomics, spatially-resolved multi-omics (multiplexed immunofluoresence images, spatial transcriptomics) and adaptive immune receptor sequences (B cell and T cell receptors).
- Integrate multi-modal datasets to understand tumor-immune interactions and identify signatures of immune response and tumor evasion.
- For candidates with wet-lab experience, it is also possible to participate in generating immune repertoire sequencing and spatial transcriptomics datasets.
Please send your application to Katharina Imkeller and include a motivation letter, CV, transcripts of records and names of two references.
Thesis projects (BSc/MSc) and student internships
We offer internships, Bachelor’s and Master’s theses in different research areas of quantitative immunology. The research projects can be either experimental (for students with experience in laboratory work) or computational (for students with coding experience).
Possible research topics:
- Spatial transcriptomic and proteomic profiling of the tumor microenvironemnt
- Adaptive immune receptor repertoire (B cell and T cell receptor) sequencing in solid tumors
- Antigen-specificity of tumor-associated B cells and T cells
If you are interested in joining us please contact Katharina Imkeller. Please include a motivation letter, CV and transcripts of records.
Student assistant (HiWi, 10-20h/week)
We offer computational jobs for student assistants to work in an exciting and interdisciplinary environment and directly contribute to our current research projects. Candidates should have hands-on experience in programming (R or python) and linux operating systems. The student assistant needs to be enrolled in a study program at a university in Germany.
Tasks:
- Software development and data analysis for our ongoing research projects
- Development of interactive visualization tools for our collaborative research projects
- Data management and software maintenance
If you are interested in applying to this position please contact Katharina Imkeller. Please include a motivation letter, CV and transcripts of records.
